Council sees red!

Photograph of the properties and the red shuttersIn recent weeks new shop fronts and bright red shutters appeared at two properties; 123 and 125 Milton Road, Swanscombe. Planning permission for the shop fronts and shutters had not been sought from the owner of the premises to Dartford Borough Council. Several residents living nearby complained to the Council and as a result, Planning Enforcement Notices were served. These notices were not complied with and a prosecution was brought against the owner of both of the premises, Mr Malvin Brown.

Dartford awarded community cash back funds

Bank notesA Community project in Dartford has been given £40,000 of funding as part of a scheme that puts money confiscated from criminals to good use.

The funding has been made available through the Government's Community Cashback initiative which uses money taken from the proceeds of crime to fund grassroots neighbourhood projects that make a real difference to people's everyday lives.

A nationwide scheme, Community Cashback is administered locally by the Kent Criminal Justice Board which last year urged community groups across the county to submit bids for funding.
