Client Aftercare
The aftercare instructions should be specific to the type of treatment. All customers should be issued with written aftercare instructions.
General aftercare advice and post-treatment instructions should include:
- leave tattoos covered with a sterile, non-adhesive dressing for 24 hours
- the treatment site should be kept dry so far as is practicable
- do not touch piercings for at least 48 hours
- wash your hands before touching your piercing or jewellery
- after showering etc, dry the piercing with cotton swabs or tissue (not cotton wool)
- to maintain mobility of jewellery, it should be turned no more than twice a day with clean hands and handling the jewellery as little as possible
- infections and what to look for:
- prolonged redness and swelling
- sensation of heat at the site of the piercing
- throbbing pain or a spreading pain
- unusual discharge
- healing times
Note: Consult a doctor in case of infection, allergic reaction or any other delay in healing.
