Other Beauty Treatments
Botox and dermal fillers
this involves injection and is regulated by the Medicines Act 1968. Botox is classified as a prescription only medicine (POM) and therefore can only be administered by a registered medical practitioner, or a person under their supervision and control.
Collagen and hyaluronic products
these are considered to be implants and therefore are medical devices. There is no legal restriction on who can provide this treatment, though the necessary knowledge and skills required to provide this treatment mean that competency is unlikely to be shown unless by a qualified medical practitioner.
Teeth whitening
it is illegal for a beauty therapist to enter the mouth of a client, and this practice should only be carried out by a qualified dentist.
