Grants and Discount Schemes
Dartford in partnership with the other Kent Local Authorities provides an advice and information service through the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre. The Centre is a not for profit organisation and provides residents with free advice and information. The Centre can be contacted on freephone 0800 512 012 or through the Energy Saving Trust website
Warm Front Grant
Warm Front scheme installs heating and insulation measures in your home. Currently the scheme is unable to accept new applications. This is a temporary measure, the scheme will accept applications again at a given date after April 2011.
Pilot Home Insulation Scheme starting in the borough
The Dartford Energy Saving Scheme operated by Zero Carbon UK and endorsed by Dartford Borough Council is committed to helping improve the energy efficiency of private properties in the Borough. A pilot scheme will operate in a small number of roads in the West Hill Ward these roads being:
- Stanham Road
- Raeburn Road
- Morland Avenue
- Walkley Road
- Winifred Road
Zero Carbon UK will commence work on Monday 27 July 09, and will initially operate in the areas stated above to enable the Council to monitor the operation of the scheme and the outcome of the project. Subject to the outcome of the pilot the scheme could be rolled out across other wards in the Borough
The scheme offers householders grant funded discounts on loft and cavity wall insulation and referrals to Warm Front grants. Some people (over 70’s or those in receipt of benefits) may even qualify for fully funded insulation.

Kent Action to Save Heat (KASH)
Dartford in partnership with the other Kent Local Authorities provides an advice and information service through the Energy Saving Trust. The Centre is a not for profit organization and provides residents with free advice and information on saving energy, grants available, discounts and cash backs. By working directly with energy suppliers, installers and manufacturers and accessing Government grants we are able to offer big discounts on loft and cavity wall insulation, condensing boilers, appliances and solar hot water.
British Gas Scheme
The Council has teamed up with British Gas for an innovative new scheme that encourages homeowners to install cavity wall or loft insulation, at a reduced cost, which could save hundreds of pounds from heating bills. Funded by British Gas, the scheme enables a £50 credit against council tax accounts for those who take up the offer. Winter Fuel Payments
If you are over 60 you could be entitled to a fuel payment of at least £200. You can get a claim form by calling the Winter Fuel Helpline on 08459 151515 or by visiting the Direct Gov website.
Renewable Energy

Energy Efficiency for Landlords
This Scheme offers a variety of services to landlords to help them make their homes cheaper to run and more attractive to rent, for example discounted loft and cavity wall insulation. Creative Environmental Networks (CEN) can provide more information and assistance.

Get a free on line report from the Kent Energy Centre describing ways you can reduce your energy consumption. You could save up to £250 a year on your energy bills, as well as around two tones of carbon dioxide a year.
