Heritage Open Days 2011 gave residents the chance to get involved in a series of walks.
Swanscombe Heritage Park

Swanscombe Heritage Park is a designated National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest and is famous across the world for its spectacular finds on early man. Fragments of the skull of the ‘Swanscombe Man’ found on the site date back 400,000 years.
This site can be visited at any time.
This walk is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
History of Darenth Country Park Walk
This was a guided walk with local historian Francine Payne through Darenth Country Park, to find out about its past and present, whilst sampling its natural beauty and enjoying the countryside.
Mills and boom!
This walk was to discover the hidden, and sometimes explosive, history of Dartford's flour and gunpowder mills. On this walk which follows the River Darenth to explore these industries of the past as will as the story of Central Park. The walk was be led by Dr Mike Still of Dartford Borough Museum.
Ingress Park Heritage Trail - Ingress Park, Greenhithe
The beautiful Ingress Park is framed by the Thames waterfront and extensive
woodlands.
The heritage trails include views of Ingress Abbey and surrounding follies.
This tour is self-guided and visitors can visit at any time and follow the notice boards for points of interest.
