Are you interested in renting a garage?
The Council owns garages which are available to rent in various locations throughout the Borough, although most of the sites are on Temple Hill or in the Swanscombe area.
Current weekly charges from 7 April 2008
£8.00 (Council tenants and leaseholders - no VAT included)
£9.40 (Non-Council tenants- VAT included)
Please note the following conditions:
- Garage rents are only payable monthly in advance by Direct Debit. There is a choice of two dates for the Direct Debit to be paid, either 1st or 9th of each month.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or over.
- Applications will only be considered from tenants and leaseholders with clear rent and service charge accounts, including any former tenancy accounts. Additionally, garage tenancies will not be offered to any member of the same household until such time as the arrears are cleared in full.
- Garages are not always immediately available. If there are no vacancies at the time you apply, your name will be placed on a waiting list. Garages are allocated according to the date of application.
VAT
Please note, Council tenants and leaseholders don't pay VAT on the first 2 garages they rent however, if more than 2 garages are rented by the same tenant or leaseholder then VAT is payable on the 3rd and any subsequent garages rented by that person. For example, Council tenant Mr Smith rents three garages - the first two at £8.00 and the third at £9.40.
