Mental
health problems are a very common part of life, one in four people will
experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives and at
any given time one in six people will be experiencing a mental health
problem which may affect their daily life, relationships or physical
health.
Mental health is important to everyone, there are times when everyone feels down, stressed or frighten but most of the time these feelings will pass. However, sometimes these feelings can develop into more serious problems.
Looking After Your Mental Health and Well-being
Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. You can help keep yourself in good mental health by:
- talking about your feelings
- keeping physically active
- eating well
- drinking sensibly
- taking part in the arts
- keeping in touch with friends and loved ones
- asking for help when you need it
- taking a break
- doing something you’re good at and enjoy
- accepting who you are
- caring for others
