Homelessness Strategy 2011-14

The Homelessness Act 2002 requires all local authorities to carry out a review of homelessness in their district at least every five years, to develop and publish a Homelessness Strategy based on this review, and to consult with other local statutory and voluntary organisations.

The Council has developed its latest Homelessness Strategy 2011 -2104 based on the results of the Homelessness Review. The Strategy explains how the Council will:

A series of consultation events took place with service users and local stakeholder organisations to help inform the review. We wish to express our thanks to everyone who participated in the review process.

Homelessness Strategy Implementation Group

The HSIG is a multi-agency partnership between Dartford Borough Council, health, social care, Kent Probation, local advice and support agencies and registered social landlords to monitor the progress being made in delivering Dartford Borough Council's Homelessness Strategy.

Chaired by the Head of Housing, the group meets on a quarterly basis.

The HSIG also discusses other areas of mutual interest in relation to homeless prevention that will inevitably evolve outside of the Strategy. Members are welcome to forward suggestions for a discussion slot or other proposed ways of working to prevent homelessness. Please forward any suggestions to housing.policy@dartford.gov.uk.
