Pay for parking by mobile phone
Dartford Borough Council has teamed up with Parkmobile to provide customers with an option to pay for parking using their mobile phone in all car parks and on-street parking areas throughout the Borough.
With phone parking, you do not have to decide how long you want to park for, you phone to start your parking session and then phone again when you want to stop. Of course the maximum stay duration for each car park will still apply but you can opt to have Parkmobile to send you a text to remind you when that time is near.
The new system will go live from Monday 3rd October 2011.

What is phone parking?
Phone Parking is a quick and easy way to pay for your parking without needing to have coins or use the pay and display machines and you don’t need to decide how long you want to park for. You use your mobile phone to call Parkmobile and pay using your credit or debit card.
The service is available in all Dartford Borough Council car parks and on street pay and display parking bays. The telephone number to call to use this service is shown on signs and tariff boards in all the car parks and is a local rate number.
Of course the maximum stay duration for each car park will still apply.
Enforcement Officers will go online whilst on patrol to check you have paid to park by reference to your vehicle registration number, so you do not need a pay and display ticket.
How do I register with Parkmobile?
There is no charge to register with Parkmobile and you can pre-register with them right now on the internet to save you time when you actually park. You only need to register once, thereafter, to start a parking session normally takes less than 30 seconds. Simply follow this link to register on line: www.parkmobile.co.uk
Alternatively you can register at the time you park or register even if you do not want to park now by calling: 020 3003 2523. You can also download Parkmobile’s Apps free of charge for iPhones, Androids and Smartphones.
When you phone for the first time, you will need to register if you have not done so on line already. This will take a few minutes as we will need some information from you. You will be asked for the following:
- Your vehicle registration number and the colour and make (you can register more than one vehicle on the same account)
- Your payment card details so have this ready
If you want to park there and then we will also need:
- The Location Number of the car park you are parked in (there is a different number for each car park and on-street parking area and this number is clearly displayed on signs).
Paying to Park with Parkmobile
There are a number of ways to pay for your parking with Parkmobile and these options are shown on the signs in the car parks, you can:
- call 020 3003 2523
- use an iphone, Android or Mobile with Internet
- do it by an SMS text
- do it on line
Using the 020 3003 2523 phone service to park
You simply call this local rate telephone number which is also shown on signs in the car parks and on-street parking areas. So long as you have user ID enabled on your phone, Parkmobile will automatically know who you are when you call by recognising your phone number. All you need to tell them is the Location Number where you are parked and your parking session will start. Don’t forget to call again when you want to stop parking.
Using an iPhone or Android phone to park
IPhone users can download the Parkmobile App free of charge from the App Store. Android users can download the Parkmobile App free of charge from The Android Market. Both use Geo Location technology to find your nearest car park or parking area or the car park you are in.
Using the Internet to park
If you have a phone with mobile internet access send a text to 66644 with: park (space) url
If you have a lap top with you, you can go to www.myparkmobile.co.uk but you will need your Login and Password handy, which Parkmobile will text to you when you first register

To start parking send a text to 66644 with:
- park (space) car park location number (space) your car reg (with no spaces).
- Please wait for a confirmation text that your instruction has been accepted.
- To stop parking text again to 66644 with:

How much does it cost to use phone parking?
To register with Parkmobile is free. When you register, you are sent a text with your Login and Password and the text is free. When you park your vehicle with Parkmobile you pay a 20p convenience charge on top of the normal parking charge for the car park or parking area you are in. Parkmobile phone parking provides you with the following benefits:
- you no longer need to walk to the pay and display machine and back (nor queue)
- you do not need to have a supply of coins
- you do not need to display a ticket
- you do not need to decide how long you want to park for
- you can opt for a reminder text 10 minutes before the maximum stay duration which lessens the risk of incurring a parking fine
- you can get receipts on line
- you can see your parking history on line
There is the cost of calls to Parkmobile to consider but a local rate number is used and the call costs may well be included in your free minutes package.
If you park by text you will pay for the text message at the rate you have with your phone service provider. Any reminders that Parkmobile send you which you can opt for when you register or change on line, are charged at 10p.
How To obtain a VAT receipt
Go to www.myparkmobile.co.uk and login to your account, Parkmobile send you a text when you first register with your login details. You can download receipts, add/change vehicles, change the Card you use and see all you’re parking history.
Forgotten your Login details?
Send a text to 66644 from the mobile phone you have registered with Parkmobile, with the following: “park (space) login” Parkmobile will send you a text back immediately with your login and password details. Go to www.myparkmobile.co.uk to access the login page.
