Pay and Display Car Parks and On-Street Pay and Display Bays
Charges, operating times and instructions on how to use the pay and display machines are on the notices attached to the machines.
All our pay and display machines require the digits of the vehicle registration to be entered before inserting coins to the value of the required tariff.
Please be aware none of our pay and display machines give change.
Therefore, you will need to ensure that you have a selection of change before entering any of our car parks or using any of the on-street parking bays, as it is an offence to leave the car park or parking area without having a valid pay and display ticket displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle.
If on arrival you do not have the necessary change you would need to move your vehicle to a pay-on-exit car park or other legal parking place.
Disabled badge holders are entitled to three hours free parking in any of our pay and display car parks or on-street pay and display bays (This would be stated on the local signs, therefore please check the local signs before leaving your vehicle) as long as their disabled badge is displayed with the side showing the wheelchair-user symbol and expiry date, together with the clock set at time of arrival.
It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that their pay and display ticket, or if they are a disabled driver that their disabled badge and clock, are correctly (i.e. so that the expiry details can be seen) and clearly displayed on the dashboard before leaving their vehicle.
Self adhesive parking ticket holders are now available for purchase either from the cashiers at the Civic Centre, the Temple Hill or Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town Council cash offices at £1.00 each. These would assist you in displaying your pay and display ticket clearly.
Please be aware it is only one ticket per visit no return within 2 hours. It is an offence to purchase additional tickets to extend your stay.
Please also be aware that where the car parks or on-street pay and display bays are clearly marked with solid white lines, thereby indicating the parking bay/space you must park your vehicle within the confines of the bay/space.
If your vehicle is identified as being parked outside any of the bay/space markings, you will be issued with a penalty charge notice.
