Service Reviews
A team of Members, officers and other relevant stakeholders take a completely fresh look at the services under review by:
- Challenging why the service is being provided
- Comparing performance with other authorities
- Consulting with tax-payers, service users, potential service users and stakeholders
- Looking at Competition as a way of ensuring efficient and effective services
All of these points are tackled in a systematic way and encompassed in a review document and service improvement plan.
These reviews can then be made subject to an inspection by the independent Audit Commission. The purpose of a best value inspection is to make two judgements:
- the present quality of the service rated excellent/ good/ fair/ weak/ poor
- the prospects for improvement rated poor/ uncertain/ promising/ excellent
