Vehicle access markings (dog-bones, keep clear)

These are white lines installed on the carriageway surface by local authorities. The markings are sometimes employed to identify access to properties. Typically, these markings are observed adjacent dropped kerbs and they are an indication to other highway users of the kerb-space that should not be obstructed by vehicles or other items that would prevent or restrict access.

For the borough of Dartford, Kent Police is the authority responsible for enforcing against obstruction of the highway and dropped kerb accesses.

Vehicle access markings may be installed at a cost of £40.00 if approved by a highways engineer following a site survey and technical appraisal.

This form registers your request only and there is no obligation for Dartford Borough Council to action your request at this stage. There is a process for considering and prioritising all requests for kerb-space management.
