Dressing Room Keys and Backstage Security Stage Door and Dressing Rooms - Access backstage will not be allowed until an hour and a half prior to curtain up. The stage door is locked and, after cleaning, so are the dressing rooms. Guests - Please direct all guests to the Stage Door where the stage door keeper will page you on their arrival. For security reasons, please do not bring guests through the pass doors from Front of House. Please leave your dressing room key with the stage-door keeper before going Front of House or if you leave the building - missing keys are charged for. Car Parking for Visiting Companies The Orchard Theatre provides no parking facilities on the perimeter road or on the paved areas around the building. Companies are allocated a certain number of parking spaces in our private car park and it is the Company Manager who decides as to whom they are to be allocated to. Smoking The Orchard Theatre is a Dartford Borough Council building and is non-smoking throughout. Please be aware that there are smoke sensors around the building and should the alarm sound, it will result in an immediate evacuation of the entire building. 1. WestGate A multi-storey car park that is situated behind the Co-op, just off of the High Street, two minutes walk from the theatre. Level 1 is open 24 hours and the other levels are open from 7.30am till 7pm, when it is then locked. 2. The Orchards Shopping Centre A multi-storey car park that is situated above the Orchards Shopping Centre, next to Waitrose supermarket, two minutes walk from the theatre. This car park closes at midnight. 3. The Civic Centre The car park is free of charge after 6pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. The car park is a few minutes walk from the theatre, via a footbridge. We have no arrangement with Dartford Borough Council whereby visiting companies are exempt from parking fines; therefore, it is suggested that one uses the car parks and pays the required fee. The Court House A Youngs pub with a lively family type atmosphere that is a favourite with our crew. Food is freshly cooked daily from 12-3.30pm. 2. The Paper Moon A JD Wetherspoons pub with cheap beer and many special offers. Food is served daily all day until 10pm Monday to Saturday and until 9.30pm on Sundays. 3. The Litten Tree A young, lively pub with big screen T.V and music. Food is served daily until 2.30pm and they have daily specials. 4. The Orchard Theatre - Stalls Bar The bar at the theatre is open daily from 10-3pm and again from 6.30pm for the performance. The bar normally closes after the interval but please ask the House Manager for more details if you are entertaining after the show. Food is served daily from 10.30-2.30pm with a daily specials board and take-away service available. 10% discount available to visiting company members. 5. Royal Victoria and Bull Hotel A large lively pub that welcomes children and food served all day. Meals are belt busters! Choose from a jacket potato to a thumping rump steak. Food is served throughout the day in any section of the pub. Restaurants There are many restaurants in Dartford town centre, ranging from fast food and pie and mash to a variety of foreign restaurants like Tex Mex, Greek, Indian, Chinese and Italian. Twin Noodle Bar Specialist/Chinese Fast food and Restaurant Choose from either a buffet style menu where you can choose from a wide range of 60 tasty dishes and 'Eat as much a s you Like' at £12.80 per person or a plate of noodles with a meat or vegetarian topping from £3.30. They also provide a take-away service. A very good, large restaurant with very good food. Open daily until 11pm. 7. Mandarin Palace Chinese Buffet Restaurant All you can eat for a fixed price for either lunch or dinner. Choose from either meat or vegetarian dishes at £4.50 for lunch or £8.90 for dinner. Fairfield Pool and Leisure Centre Dartford's largest sport and leisure centre that includes a fitness gym, swimming pool, dance studio, health suite with large sauna and steam rooms, Jacuzzi with resident aromatherapist, beautician and squash courts. The centre is 5 minutes drive from the theatre and no pre-booking is necessary. 2. Princes Golf and Leisure Club The club offers a wide range of first class sporting facilities including a par three, nine hole golf course, football and cricket pitches, bowls, squash courts plus grass and all weather tennis courts. The club is 5 minutes drive from the theatre and pre-booking is advisable. 3. Birchwood Park Golf Centre One of the UK's leading golf centres suitable for beginners or the more experienced golfer. Advice is on hand from staff and RGA professionals. The club is 10 minutes drive from the theatre and advance booking is advisable with pay-and-play available to all non- members. The bar, catering, shop and teaching facilities are open to all visitors. 4. Becket's Sports Leisure Centre Bexley's sports and leisure centre that includes a fitness gym, football hall and fitness studio with many off peak and peak time activities. The centre is 10 minutes drive from the theatre and no pre-booking is necessary. 5. Reynold's Fitness Centre and Theatre Academy Fitness and dance centre that offers all cast and company members reduced rates for the gym, sauna and sun beds. Either phone or call in to make your appointment. The centre is only a few minutes walk from the theatre in the town centre. Complementary Health Centres 1. Dartford has two indoor shopping centres - Orchards Shopping Centre and The Priory Shopping Centre - both of which have a wide range of shops to cater for all your needs. The High Street runs through the centre of the town and has a selection of shops and fast food restaurants and cafes. If you need any further guidance please ask at Stage Door.
